❓ FAQ ❓

What are color palettes?

Color palettes are limited sets of colors used by retro gaming systems. For example, the original Game Boy only had 4 shades of green. Pixelize restricts your photo to these authentic colors for a true retro look.

What is dithering?

Dithering is a technique that creates the illusion of more colors by arranging pixels in patterns. Different algorithms (Floyd-Steinberg, Atkinson, etc.) produce different visual effects, from smooth gradients to stippled textures.

Does the app need internet access?

No! All image processing happens entirely on your device. Your photos are never uploaded to any server. No internet connection or account is required.

Why does the app need photo permissions?

Photo access is required to load images from your gallery and save your pixelized creations. We only access photos you explicitly select, and all processing stays on your device.

How do I save my pixel art?

After processing your image, tap the Save button to export the pixel art to your photo gallery. You can also use the Share button to send it directly to other apps.

What pixel size should I use?

Smaller pixel sizes (2x, 4x) retain more detail but look less "retro." Larger sizes (8x, 16x) create a more dramatic pixel art effect. Experiment to find what works best for each photo!
